MSc program:
"Immunology: Basic Principles and Clinical Applications"

The inability to effectively treat harmful stimulators of the immune system and poor functioning of regulatory mechanisms leads to the development of diseases that potentially concern all medical specialties, indicatively mentioning biopathology, stomatology, infectious diseases, allergology, gastroenterology, rheumatology, haematology, dermatology, pulmonology, endocrinology, neurology, oncology, ophthalmology and gynaecology. Recently, the ever-increasing knowledge about the involvement of immune mechanisms in the pathogenesis of multiple diseases related to Internal Medicine and the development of therapeutic strategies aimed either at suppressing/modifying immune mechanisms in case of over-function (eg autoimmune diseases) or their stimulation (eg in many types of cancer), make the need for an in-depth understanding of immune mechanisms and their clinical applications by modern health scientists.

The Postgraduate Program of Studies (MSc) of the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens entitled "Immunology: Basic Principles and Clinical Applications" is addressed to non-specialists, specialists of any clinical specialty such as dentists, pharmacists, biologists, chemists and bioscientists/health scientists who wish to deepen their understanding of the mechanisms underlying pathogenesis of immunological diseases and at the same time acquire targeted knowledge on clinical expression and the diagnostic/therapeutic approach of these diseases.
